  • Smoking bans pop up on cruise ships

Posted on January 16, 2012 by Revolver

Bad news for smokers who like to get away on vacations every now and then: several cruise lines have recently tightened their smoking policies, placing bans on cabins, cabin balconies and many public areas on the ships.

According to The Sun Sentinel, Princess, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Lines will all be tightening their policies, leaving only a few areas for smokers to light up on board. "Our consumer studies now show that smokers are a small minority of our passengers, and that the large majority of passengers value having their primary living space onboard smoke-free," Executive Vice President of Princess Jan Swartz told the news source.

If you're planning on taking a cruise any time soon, you might want to switch to electronic cigarettes, which can be used in many places where traditional cigarettes can't. With no smoke or smells associated with them, e-cigs are a viable alternative when it comes to getting your nicotine fix without having to adhere to any restrictions. Plus, they cost significantly less than cigarettes and can be reused over and over, so they don't need to get in the way of booking your dream vacation.

  • E-cigs in Chatham County, Georgia, pass through smoking ban

Posted on January 13, 2012 by Revolver

Recently, commissioners in Chatham County, Georgia, voted to remove clubs, bars and tobacco shops that only serve customers who are at least 21 from the proposed county-wide indoor smoking ban.

According to The Savannah Morning News, electronic cigarettes will also be allowed at these venues. While it's a bit surprising that traditional cigarettes are bypassing the ban in these places, it's not shocking to learn that e-cigs, which don't emit smoke, are being given the okay.

Smokeless cigarettes don't often fall under the jurisdiction of smoking bans, as they don't involve tobacco or smoke. They use an atomizer to transform a liquid nicotine solution (eLiquid) into vapor. People can use electronic cigarettes in many places where traditional cigarettes can't be smoked, which opens up a variety of new opportunities.

If you're tired of having to go elsewhere to get your nicotine fix, try an electronic cigarette instead. You won't have to get up from your seat - not even to find an ashtray!

  • Go green with reusable electronic cigarettes

Posted on January 13, 2012 by Revolver

If you're the type of person who brings your own bags to grocery stores, turns off the lights after leaving a room and unplugs your electronics when they're not in use, you might want to reconsider your cigarette smoking habit.

Although cigarettes don't seem like a big hazard to the environment, considering their size, the truth is that they do damage in a variety of ways. According to the Sacramento Bee, about 1.69 billion pounds of cigarette butts wind up as litter worldwide each year. These dirty butts leak toxic chemicals into the environment and don't break down easily. In addition, the smoke from cigarettes adds a cocktail mixture of chemicals into the air, while numerous trees are cut down to make the paper wraps.

If you want to minimize your impact on the environment, electronic cigarettes can help you do so. By using refillable cartridges and rechargeable batteries, e-cigs help cut down on needless waste. You can still get your nicotine fix without having to worry about whether your carbon footprint is growing.

  • Prevent heavy smoke stains and odors in your home by switching to e-cigs

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Revolver

If you're concerned about the look and value of your place, you might want to think twice about lighting up your cigarettes indoors. Along with exposing yourself and your family to the health risks associated with traditional cigarettes, you'll be exposing your carpets and walls to harmful materials that could heavily stain them.

Toxic third-hand smoke from cigarettes can permeate into carpets, upholstery, walls, hardwood, ceilings and even tile. In addition to making your home constantly smell like an ashtray, cigarette smoke can stain your walls and alter the shade of your carefully-chosen paint colors. Getting rid of the smell and stains can be a daunting process, involving lots of clean-up, sealing and replacing materials.

Instead of smoking cigarettes indoors, try an electronic cigarette. With vapor instead of smoke, you can smoke inside without having to worry about what kind of damage your nicotine habit is having on your house. You'll also be saving money on future renovations that may be necessary if you want to sell your place in the future.

  • Switch to e-cigs instead of rolling your own cigarettes

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Revolver

Hand-rolled cigarettes are an alternative for cigarette smokers who want a customized smoking experience at a significantly reduced price. The cost of tobacco blends and rolling papers is often much less than packs of cigarettes, and the fact that smokers can make their own flavor blends and sizes is appealing.

However, it's time-consuming to have to hand-roll each cigarette you decide to indulge in, and although you're not adding harmful chemicals into your cigarettes, you're still smoking the tar and other toxins associated with burning tobacco. If you're looking for a truly cost-effective and customized way to get your nicotine fix, electronic cigarettes may be a better choice.

There are many different models of electronic cigarettes available, so you can pick the e-cig that caters to your smoking habits and preferences. You can even choose the level of nicotine you want in each cartridge or eLiquid, as well as different flavors. And, after purchasing a starter kit, you'll only have to buy cartridge and eLiquid refills, which are significantly less than a pack of cigarettes, rolling papers or blended tobacco.

  • Children of smokers don't have to smell like smoke

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Revolver

Despite the fact that the legal smoking age prohibits youngsters from smoking cigarettes, many children arrive at school reeking of cigarette smoke. While your first assumption may be that they've been sneaking cigarettes, it's more likely that their parents are smokers.

People who smoke cigarettes in their homes spread odors from chemicals, smoke and tar everywhere. Toxic particles can be left on clothing, furniture, walls and the bodies of family members. Even if you're not lighting up directly in front of your children, chances are, they still smell like smoke just from being in the same house.

If you don't want your kids to get strange glances from their peers at school, you might want to switch to electronic cigarettes. With odorless vapor instead of smoke, you can get your nicotine fix without putting your kid at risk of being the one who no one wants to sit next to in class. It's bad enough that traditional cigarettes make you smell like an ashtray - you don't want your kids to pay for your habit too.

  • Cut down on "transition point" littering by using e-cigs

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Revolver

When smokers are about to enter an establishment or area where smoking is prohibited, they're forced to put out their cigarettes. Keep America Beautiful calls these areas "transition points" and says that 30 percent of the litter in these areas is made up of cigarette butts.

Storefronts, bus and train platforms, front entrances to office buildings, rest areas and parking lots are just a few areas that typically accumulate cigarette butts, because smokers can't proceed without disposing of their cigarettes. However, if you make the switch to electronic cigarettes, you won't have to worry about bans in these areas and you won't be adding to the litter issue.

Instead of stubbing out your cigarette and leaving it on the ground before entering a building, you can simply stop vaping with your e-cig and put it in your charging case or even your pocket. You might even be able to use it indoors, as there's no smoke or smell associated with electronic cigarettes. It's a much cleaner way to get your nicotine fix.

  • Clean up your neighborhood by switching to electronic cigarettes

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Revolver

You may think that tossing a cigarette butt on the ground outside is no big deal every now and then, but the reality is that it can have a big impact on your community's appearance and health.

According to Keep America Beautiful, tobacco litter makes up 32 percent of the litter in outdoor recreational areas, including beaches, sports fields, parks and hiking trails. Littered appearances like this can not only impact the attitudes of the people who go there, but it can have a negative effect on your community's property values - by as much as 7 percent.

Instead of smoking traditional cigarettes, why not switch to e-cigs? You won't have to worry about where to put your electronic cigarette once you're done vaping, because it can be reused again and again. Without flame, your e-cig can safely remain in your portable charging case or pocket until the next time you want to use it. There's no reason to litter with electronic cigarettes, so you'll be doing your peers and your community a favor.

  • Indiana smoking ban likely to win approval in House

Posted on January 10, 2012 by Revolver

Many states have had indoor smoking bans in place for a while now, but Indiana is still trying to get a comprehensive bill passed. According to The Times, the bill is likely to gain approval from the Indiana House of Representatives soon.

The new bill would ban smoking in all indoor places except on casino gaming floors, in existing cigar and hookah bars and in private clubs whose members would have to vote in order to approve smoking. Many people in the bar, restaurant and casino industries have opposed the ban, but the state aims to eliminate most exemptions in order to lessen confusion about where it's okay to smoke.

If you're tired of having to wonder whether or not you can light up in a certain venue, you might want to switch to electronic cigarettes. They use vapor instead of smoke, so you can vape almost anywhere without worrying about offending other people. You'll be able to get your nicotine fix whenever you want, without garnering any disapproving glances.
