It sounds like something that would only happen in the movies, but recently a woman in Lake Oswego, Oregon, caught on fire from her lit cigarette and was burned to death.
According to The Bulletin, investigators believe it was a cigarette that ignited the woman's clothing. She was apparently smoking at her kitchen table when her clothes set on fire. She went to the sink to try and quell the flames, but apparently it was too late. Officials say it was an unfortunate accident that wasn't suspicious.
If you're worried about the fire hazards associated with traditional cigarettes, you might want to make the switch to electronic cigarettes. With no tobacco to burn, there's no risk of catching on fire or accidentally burning down your house. You'll be vaping with an atomizer or cartomizer rather than a lit ember, which doesn't even get hot.
You can still get your nicotine fix with e-cigs and the best part is that you can choose the level you want as well as the flavor. You'll be keeping yourself and your family safer by switching to smokeless cigarettes, as there's no risk of fire hazard.
