Smoking ban passed in North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, recently passed an ordinance designed to ban smoking in public areas of the city.

According to WMBF News, the ordinance, which was amended to remove any mention of electronic cigarettes, passed a vote by the City Council. The ban will eliminate smoking in all public workplaces and at many outdoor venues such as public parks and sports fields, starting on March 7, 2012, reports the news source. These outdoor areas are allowed to have designated smoking areas, however.

If you're a smoker who is concerned about where you're allowed to light up, you might want to consider using an e-cig instead. With so many cities passing smoking bans recently, it's tough to know when your smoking habit could get you into trouble.

An electronic cigarette isn't usually under the jurisdiction of such bans, so you can vape without having to worry about being stopped by a police officer. Without the tar, chemicals and smoke associated with traditional cigarettes, smokeless cigarettes are an alternative that won't put others at the risk of breathing in secondhand smoke.
